Clerical / network assistant
This job is similar to the word-processing trainee except that you also assist in maintaining a network of about 25 Macintosh computers. The job requires that you have experience troubleshooting and maintaining Macs and can touch-type 30+ words per minute. Any office experience or desktop publishing experience you have is a plus but is not required.

Paralegal clerk - runner
In this job, you will carry documents between our offices and state agencies primarily in the downtown area, as well as perform office work. You'll need your own economical, reliable, insured car and a good driving record, and you must be at least 19 years old. We train you to handle many of the state-agency and court-clerk-liaison work that Texas lawyers need in Austin. You receive extra mileage pay for each trip that you make. Schedule: 18 to 40 hours a week (between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. if part-time).

Accounting trainee
This job is similar to the paralegal clerk trainee except that you also perform a variety of small-business bookkeeping tasks, and assist with documenting our bookkeeping system. You need to type at least 30 words per minute. Any office experience you have is a plus but is not required.

Fix-it/building maintenance
In this position, you perform general building maintenance at 3 buildings, 2 within walking distance of UT. Responsibilities include painting, installing lights, mowing, troubleshooting machines, assembling furniture, maintaining a flat roof, and other general maintenance needs. Experience in any of these areas is a plus: building maintenance, general construction, electrical, plumbing, locks, internet research, machinery repair, Spanish. A car or truck is strongly preferred. These duties may also be combined with any of the other positions. Schedule: 10 to 30 hours a week.

Rental / hiring trainee
The work in this position combines human resources tasks such as screening job applications; light property management such as showing rooms (seasonal, mostly on-site), keeping records, and posting ads; writing and improving how-to wiki guides; and various office tasks. You must be able to touch-type 30+ words per minute. Office or related experience is a plus but not required. People savvy and resourcefulness are keys to excellence in this job. Schedule: 18 to 40 hours per week, flexible. Part-time hours can be scheduled between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Database developer
(Paid summer internship, 1-3 positions)

These summer internships can be 20 to 40 hours a week and may be able to continue beyond the summer. You'll work in a team to develop a new web ordering solution and integrate it with new and existing FileMaker Pro 7 databases. The web order method will be more complex than standard shopping carts. It's preferred that you have experience in relational database design and academic excellence. It's a plus if you have background in FileMaker Pro, Mac OSX, dynamic website creation, technical writing skills, programming, network admin, computer security, or project management methods.

Paralegal fax desk trainee
Process fax and phone orders from attorneys, prepare legal forms, organize, maintain, and file paperwork. 30-40 hours a week with some schedule flexibility. Business-casual office near UT and downtown. Health benefits. Must touch-type 30+ wpm accurately and have skill in communicating with customers in writing and on the phone, including excellent proofreading and attention to detail. Proofreading test is required. Academic excellence is a plus, as are office, clerical, and software experience.

Desktop publishing assistant
As desktop publishing assistant, you will research, create, and manage printing of mail pieces, ads, flyers, and notebook line using Macintosh software. Most is text oriented and one color. Other duties include to write, update, and possibly design web pages; plan marketing; lease; handle personnel and miscellaneous administrative-clerical tasks; file organization. One or more years' experience in Mac DTP, web design, research, and printing management and bidding are helpful, as are strong spelling, writing, editing, and design; coping well with deadlines; organizing files and systems. Samples of your past work will be requested.

Paralegal bookkeeper trainee
In this job, you'll help organize extensive case files and perform audit and bookkeeping tasks related to lawsuits and small business. Any related experience you have is a plus but is not required.

Clerical trainee
This job is similar to the word-processing trainee, with more filing, copying, and mailing. The job requires that you can touch-type at least 30 words per minute. Any office experience or desktop publishing experience you have is a plus but is not required.

Legal assistant trainee
In this position, you'll assist with clerical and secretarial tasks in a two-attorney home office associated with Lawyer's Aid Service that is located 1.5 blocks from UT. The law practice involves probate, real estate, oil and gas, and other civil issues. Hours are flexible within 20 to 40 hours a week. Employer reacts to fragrance products, so it's required to be fragrance free. Touch-typing and experience in general office work are preferred. Law office experience or knowledge of computers (esp. Macs) or networks is a plus.

Administrative assistant
In this position, you will be assistant to the business development manager and support her in projects. Other duties include to handle leasing to students (seasonal), screen applications, document your systems, oversee classified ads, update web pages, help manage printing, and handle diverse administrative tasks and changing priorities. Requires a bright, well-organized person with good communication skills who wants to solve problems and make things run smoothly. Desktop publishing, previous similar experience, and research, writing, or business skills are a plus.
