Paralegal Clerk Trainee
Duties include carrying legal documents from offices and filing with state agencies, primarily in the downtown area, as well as paralegal clerical office work. You receive training that in liaison work with agencies and courts and learn to use a variety of office programs to handle the kind of state-agency and court-clerk-liaison work that we provide to Texas lawyers.
The courier work primarily involves delivering and filing legal documents such as incorporations, amendments, UCC filings, name reservations, and certified copies. You'll need your own economical, reliable, insured car and a good driving record, and you must be at least 19 years old. You receive extra mileage pay for each trip that you make.
In the office you'll fulfill orders and answer questions from Texas attorneys and their staffs, record orders, and create legal form documents using FileMaker Pro and MS Word on a Mac. You are likely to cross-train, update training and reference materials as you learn, and organize paper and electronic files, and other courier or office duties and projects as assigned.
This is a long-term opportunity; the duties are likely to evolve as you gain experience and as we move on to future projects. Depending on your skills, interests, and performance, future projects might involve areas such as bookkeeping, product development, advertising, marketing, network administration, or web design. If you have abilities or interests in these areas, or in writing, project administration, office or paralegal work, computer support, or web design, be sure to mention those in your application.
